Vineyard Connector improves site access, paves way for future UTA rail stop
For Immediate Release
Vineyard – A new road connection is beginning to take shape at the redeveloping Geneva site. The Utah Department of Transportation is building the first leg of the Vineyard Connector from the intersection of Geneva Road and 800 North in Orem to Mill Road in Vineyard.
“We worked closely with UDOT for several years on this new connection and we’re excited to see the @geneva site begin to emerge as a community where people come to work and live. The Vineyard Connector will make the central portion of the property more accessible and hopefully within the not too distant future will provide access to a UTA FrontRunner commuter rail stop,” said Stewart Park, Project manager for @geneva.
Construction of the first segment of the Vineyard Connector began in earnest toward the end of July with the first segment of the new highway — from the intersection of Geneva Road 800 North in Orem to Mill Road in Vineyard– scheduled to open this fall. As part of the project, crews are installing the underground support structures for a new bridge over the FrontRunner/UPRR rail lines. The bridge is scheduled to open in 2015.
Several high-density residential projects are under construction with some planned for occupancy this fall. The Vineyard Crossing Apartments, a 340 unit complex by Castlewood Development and R&O Construction is the newest housing project which construction began in July, and significant progress is being made at the 300-unit Concord @Geneva apartments by Bach Homes, with six buildings underway, and the Edgewater Townhomes a 425-unit community by R2R Ventures and Vollkommen Construction sold out the first phase of the complex and continue to sell units for additional phases.
Walls for Utah County’s first IMAX theatre are now up at the Larry H Miller Megaplex Theatre and crews are placing the reinforced foam walls for the remaining nine theatres. The theatres are slated to open in spring 2015.
The @geneva project is a 1,700 acre master-planned community centrally located in Utah Valley and will provide a mixed-use of residential, commercial, educational and industrial. With direct access to freeway and mass transit, Geneva is projected to house 26,000 residents and create approximately 20,000 jobs.
